1. Core Technical Skills Control Panels: Ability to read and understand generator control panels (e.g., Deep Sea, ComAp, etc.) and know how to configure parameters and alarms. Synchronization Systems: Knowledge of synchronizing two or more generators to operate in parallel with each other or with the main power grid. Electrical Circuits & Schematics: Proficient in reading electrical wiring diagrams and engineering schematics for accurate troubleshooting and wiring. Automatic Transfer Switch (ATS) Systems: Understanding the operation, maintenance, and testing of ATS panels between the power grid and the generator. Associated Engines & Mechanical Systems: Basic understanding of diesel engine operations and their integration with the alternator, including speed governors and excitation systems. 2. Troubleshooting & Maintenance Fault Diagnosis & Testing: Skilled in using electrical testing instruments (e.g., Multimeter, Clamp Meter, Megger insulation tester) to accurately diagnose faults. Preventive & Corrective Maintenance: Performing routine generator inspections, checking cables, batteries, battery chargers, and earthing/grounding connections.
