Job Title: Heavy Vehicle Mechanic Department: Workshop / Maintenance Reports To: Workshop Supervisor / Workshop Manager Job Purpose To inspect, diagnose, repair, and maintain heavy vehicles and equipment to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation while minimizing downtime. Key Responsibilities Perform preventive maintenance and scheduled servicing. Diagnose and repair diesel engines. Repair and overhaul gearboxes, differentials, axles, clutches, and driveline components. Inspect and repair air brake, hydraulic, steering, and suspension systems. Diagnose and repair electrical and electronic systems using diagnostic tools. Replace defective parts and carry out major overhauls when required. Perform vehicle inspections and road tests before and after repairs. Read and interpret technical manuals, wiring diagrams, and service bulletins. Complete job cards, maintenance reports, and inspection checklists. Maintain workshop tools and equipment in good condition. Follow company safety procedures and maintain good housekeeping. Respond to vehicle breakdowns and emergency repairs. Skills & Competencies Strong knowledge of heavy vehicle diesel engines.
